TERMS & CONDITIONS

1. Engagement of Services

The Clients (the “Couple”) engage the services of Nathan Good (the “Celebrant”) to perform a marriage ceremony in accordance with the Marriage Act 1961 (Cth) and these Terms and Conditions.

2. Obligations of the Celebrant

2.1 The Celebrant shall:

a) Deliver professional celebrant services for the agreed ceremony at the scheduled date, time, and location;
b) Arrive no less than 20 minutes prior to the scheduled start time;
c) Provide the Clients with a commemorative Marriage Certificate on the day of the ceremony;
d) Furnish the Clients with an application form for the official Marriage Certificate from the relevant Registry of Births, Deaths and Marriages (BDM);
e) Coordinate with third parties (e.g., photographers, videographers) to ensure ceremony logistics meet the Clients’ expectations;
f) Retain all rights to intellectual property including ceremony scripts and drafts unless otherwise agreed in writing.

2.2 In the event of the Celebrant’s unavailability on the agreed date due to unforeseen circumstances, the Celebrant shall use best efforts to arrange a qualified substitute Authorised Celebrant. All fees paid will be refunded in the event of non-performance due to the Celebrant’s fault, unless a substitute celebrant is arranged and engaged by the Clients.

2.3 If a delay exceeding 30 minutes occurs, and the ceremony cannot proceed for reasons beyond the Celebrant’s control, the Celebrant reserves the right to leave the premises. Additional fees will apply if the Celebrant returns later that day, subject to availability. A new booking fee may be applicable if rescheduled for another day.

2.4 The Celebrant reserves the right to postpone or refuse to solemnise a marriage if either party appears intoxicated or mentally incapacitated. In such cases, a Commitment Ceremony may be offered, with the legal marriage rescheduled. An additional fee of $250 will apply.

3. Client Obligations

The Clients agree to:

a) Provide all required legal documentation (e.g., birth certificates, divorce/death certificates) in a timely manner;
b) Maintain timely and open communication with the Celebrant;
c) Notify the Celebrant of any changes to ceremony time, date, or venue;
d) Ensure all fees are paid in full no later than 30 days prior to the ceremony;
e) Submit final ceremony wording no later than 14 days before the ceremony;
f) Provide qualified interpreters if either party or witnesses cannot comprehend English.

4. Bookings and Payment

4.1 A non-refundable deposit of $300 or 50% of the total service fee (whichever is greater) is required within 7 days of invoice issuance to confirm a booking.

4.2 Final balance is due 30 days prior to the ceremony. Failure to make timely payment may result in cancellation.

4.3 Saturday weddings between September and April incur a $150 surcharge.

4.4 Script changes requested within 7 days of the event attract a $100 fee.

4.5 Additional fees may apply for:
a) Excess travel beyond the package quote from the Perth GPO, charged at $0.88/km.
b) Ceremonies requiring overnight accommodation;
c) Ceremonies in remote or high-risk locations;
d) Rescheduling or late start beyond 30 minutes.

4.6 All payments are non-refundable within 30 days of the ceremony date, subject to Clause 6 (Cancellations).

4.7 Any additional fees, such as additional travel, rituals or additions to your package, will be negotiated and agreed between the client and celebrant prior to
payment.

5. Copyright and Media

5.1 The Celebrant retains full copyright over all written ceremony materials. Clients may not reproduce or share such materials without prior written consent.

5.2 Clients grant the Celebrant permission to appear in photographic or video documentation of the ceremony.

5.3 Clients grant permission for the Celebrant to use professional images (with due credit to photographers) for promotional purposes unless revoked in writing.

6. Cancellations and Refunds

6.1 Cancellations must be made in writing. The following refund terms apply:
  • 60 days prior: Full refund minus deposit;
  • 30–60 days prior: 50% refund of total fees paid, less deposit;
  • <30 days prior: No refund.

6.2 If documentation has already been prepared, an additional $300 fee will be retained.

6.3 The Celebrant reserves the right to cancel bookings at any time. In such cases, all monies paid, including deposits, will be refunded in full.

7. Travel and Accommodation

7.1 Travel allowance included as per package inclusions. Travel beyond allowance is charged at $0.88/km from the Perth GPO.

7.2 Where overnight accommodation is required, clients will provide suitable accommodation and meals and are responsible for costs and coordination. Accommodation expenses maybe prepaid by the client or invoiced.

7.3 Additional travel/accommodation charges apply where the event location affects the Celebrant’s ability to undertake other bookings.

8. Ritual Material

8.1 Clients are responsible for supplying all items for any chosen rituals.

8.2 The Celebrant may provide ritual items upon request, subject to availability and additional cost.

9. Privacy and Data Handling

9.1 The Celebrant shall handle all personal and confidential information in accordance with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and shall not disclose client details without written consent.

9.2 All legal documentation is securely stored on password-protected systems or in locked storage.

10. Force Majeure and Liability

10.1 The Celebrant shall not be liable for any failure to perform obligations where such failure is caused by acts beyond reasonable control, including but not limited to natural disasters, illness, or transportation failure.

10.2 The total liability of the Celebrant under this agreement shall not exceed the total fee paid by the Client.

11. Annual Fee Adjustment

11.1 All fees are subject to an annual minimum increase of 10% effective from 1 July of each financial year.

12. Master of Ceremonies (MC) Services

12.1 MC services are offered as an optional add-on and are subject to additional fees, travel, and accommodation terms.

12.2 A meal must be provided for the Celebrant if they are engaged as MC.
